--- name: rightblogger-get-started description: Connect RightBlogger to this AI client through its MCP server, check the connection, and help the user finish setting up their site. Use when asked to "set up RightBlogger", "connect RightBlogger", or after fetching https://rightblogger.com/get-started.md. --- # Set up RightBlogger RightBlogger is an AI blog automation tool that helps people research, write, publish, promote, and maintain their blog. It writes and schedules posts to the user's site (WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Framer, Ghost, Wix, Git and more), improves existing posts with Site Agent, reports on Google Search Console, and tracks whether AI assistants recommend the user's brand. More at https://rightblogger.com/llms.txt. Your job: connect RightBlogger to the app you are running in, confirm it works, then help the user finish setting up their site. **How to talk:** most people who send you here are bloggers, not developers. Give one step at a time, in plain words. Say "connect RightBlogger to this chat" and "your site", not MCP, OAuth, plugin or project, unless the user's screen shows that word. **Already connected?** If you can see RightBlogger tools (such as `list_projects`), skip straight to step 2. ## 1. Connect RightBlogger The connection address is: ``` https://rightblogger.com/api/mcp ``` There is no API key. The user signs in with their RightBlogger email and a one-time code that arrives by email. Never ask the user for that code, a password or a token, and never try to complete the sign-in yourself. If the code does not arrive, they should check spam, then email contact@rightblogger.com. If the user does not have a RightBlogger account yet, send them to https://rightblogger.com/signup first (it is free), then continue. ### If you are Claude or ChatGPT in a chat You cannot add the connection yourself. Walk the user through it. These steps need a computer; the phone apps can use RightBlogger once it is added. **Claude** (every plan, including Free): 1. Open https://claude.ai/customize/connectors 2. Click **Add custom connector**. 3. Name it RightBlogger, paste the address above, and click **Add**. 4. Click **Connect** and sign in with their RightBlogger email. The Free plan allows one custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan, the workspace Owner adds it first under Organization settings, then Connectors, and the user then clicks **Connect** on it. **ChatGPT** (in a web browser): 1. Open https://chatgpt.com/plugins 2. Click the **+** button, then **Add custom MCP server**. 3. Name it RightBlogger and paste the address above under **Connection**. 4. For sign-in, choose OAuth. Tick **I understand and want to continue** (ChatGPT shows this for every service it has not reviewed), then click **Create as a plugin**. 5. Install it and sign in with their RightBlogger email. If the user does not see **Add custom MCP server**, their ChatGPT plan does not offer it (on Business workspaces only an admin or owner can add it). Say so, and offer Claude instead, which works on its free plan. Do not troubleshoot further. **Then:** chat apps only load a new connection in a new chat. Tell the user to start a new chat and paste the same message again ("Set up RightBlogger for me. Fetch https://rightblogger.com/get-started.md and follow it."). In ChatGPT they type @ and pick RightBlogger first; in Claude they just paste. The new chat continues from step 2. ### If you can change your own setup (coding agents) Add the server yourself: - **Claude Code:** `claude mcp add --transport http rightblogger https://rightblogger.com/api/mcp` - **Codex** (CLI, desktop app and IDE extension): `codex mcp add rightblogger --url https://rightblogger.com/api/mcp`, then `codex mcp login rightblogger` - **Gemini CLI:** `gemini mcp add --transport http rightblogger https://rightblogger.com/api/mcp`, then `/mcp auth rightblogger` inside Gemini CLI - **Cursor:** add to `.cursor/mcp.json`: `{ "mcpServers": { "rightblogger": { "url": "https://rightblogger.com/api/mcp" } } }` - **VS Code:** add to `.vscode/mcp.json`: `{ "servers": { "rightblogger": { "type": "http", "url": "https://rightblogger.com/api/mcp" } } }` - **Any other MCP client:** add a remote (Streamable HTTP) server with the address above. If the tools do not appear in this session, do not keep retrying. Tell the user to restart the app (in Claude Code, run `/mcp` and pick rightblogger to sign in), then paste the same message again. Full setup guide: https://rightblogger.com/mcp. OAuth details for clients that register themselves: https://rightblogger.com/auth.md. ## 2. Confirm it worked 1. Call `list_projects`. A list, even an empty one, means it worked. 2. If a RightBlogger tool returns an authorization error, the sign-in did not finish or has expired. Ask the user to open the RightBlogger connection in their app's settings, click **Connect** and sign in again, then try once more. 3. Call `get_account` and tell the user which plan they are on, by name only. For what a plan includes, point them to https://rightblogger.com/pricing. 4. Tell the user, in one or two sentences, that RightBlogger is connected and which sites you can see. ## 3. Help them finish setup - **No site yet:** check `get_account` for a free site slot, then ask for their site's address and name. Say that adding it uses one of their plan's sites, wait for a yes, then call `create_project`. - **Then:** call `get_setup_status` for the site. It lists what is missing (where posts publish, Search Console, social accounts, AI brand monitoring), each with a link. Offer them one at a time, most useful first. - **For each one the user wants:** call `start_connection` and pass on its link and steps. Every connection ends in a sign-in the user does in their own browser. Say so plainly, never imply you connected anything, and offer to re-check with `get_setup_status` afterwards. ## What you can do once connected Each tool's description says exactly what it reads or changes. A few that help most: - **Search performance:** `gsc_insights` finds quick wins, content decay and keyword cannibalization; `gsc_query` and `gsc_compare` answer specific questions about clicks, impressions and rankings. - **Keyword research:** `keyword_research` returns volume, CPC and difficulty. - **Their posts:** `search_posts` and `get_post` read the live site; `update_post` and `update_post_meta` edit it, and `undo_edit` reverts an edit. - **Planning and publishing:** `list_planner` reads the content calendar and `schedule_content` adds to it; `list_automations` and `create_automation` set up autoblogging schedules. - **Site Agent:** `get_agent_status` and `read_pending_suggestions` show what Site Agent found; `approve_agent_suggestion` applies an edit and `add_agent_task` gives it something to work on next. - **AI visibility:** `llm_brand_status` shows whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews mention the brand. Ask before anything that publishes, edits a live post, or uses up a plan limit, and say what will happen. Reading is always safe. ## Rules - Everything is scoped to the signed-in user's account and the projects they can access. Pass the `projectId` from `list_projects`. - Quote plans and prices only from https://rightblogger.com/pricing. - Support: contact@rightblogger.com.
